# How we scope a first working MVP

MVP development starts with one useful customer journey. Agree the features, price, dependencies and launch milestone before development begins.

An MVP is the first usable release of a product, focused on its essential job. It gives real users something they can try so the next development decisions are grounded in experience. At FLUIDS Studio, the starting point is a written scope, rather than a universal delivery clock.

## Choose one complete customer journey

For a booking pilot, a customer requests an appointment and an operator confirms it. That journey needs the customer interface, the records behind it and a way to handle cancellations. A marketplace with multiple providers and split payments is a different scope.

Our [Naqrah case study](https://fluids.studio/work/naqrah) shows the kind of booking interfaces we build. Its screens demonstrate product work; they do not establish a standard budget or build duration for a different idea.

## What the agreement should cover

- The user, the problem and the first workflow to test.
- Included features and explicit exclusions.
- The web or mobile platforms, languages and integrations.
- The price, delivery milestones and acceptance criteria.
- Account ownership, source-code handover and agreed support.

## Set the timeline around the work

Design reviews, implementation, device testing and release preparation all belong in the plan. Payment-provider access, content and store review can affect the launch. We confirm a timeline after discussing the scope and dependencies; a fixed number of days does not fit every product.

Use our [MVP timeline guide](https://fluids.studio/mvp-development/timeline) to prepare the milestones and our [cost guide](https://fluids.studio/mvp-development/cost) to distinguish development from ongoing hosting, provider and maintenance costs.

## Build only when a working product answers the question

If the problem or audience is unclear, interviews or a prototype may be a better first step. A prototype can test whether people understand a flow. A working MVP can test whether people use it in practice. Choose the smallest exercise that produces the evidence you need.

Review the [MVP versus prototype comparison](https://fluids.studio/mvp-development/mvp-vs-prototype) or prepare a [first-release brief](https://fluids.studio/mvp-development/scope) before commissioning development.

## Start with your idea

Tell us who the product serves and what they need to accomplish. We will discuss a focused first release, then agree the build in writing. Explore [MVP development at FLUIDS Studio](https://fluids.studio/mvp-development) to see the offer and delivered product examples.

## Tell us what you’re building.

Write to us with the product you want built. You will get a considered reply from the people who would do the work.
